VR Intervention for Children with PTSD
In this collaborative project between Bournemouth University, Kingston University, and the Islamic University of Gaza, we designed and developed a prototype of a new virtual reality (VR) support for children who have experienced difficulty or trauma and develop PTSD symptoms. The VR intervention has been built on techniques from already available interventions, e.g. TF-CBT, play/art therapy, with additional input from patients, carers, and professionals through interviews and focus groups. A pilot study focusing on feasibility, usability and clinical efficacy has been conducted and the initial results of PTSS reduction and improvement in emotional recognition and regulation are positive.
