Feeling the UNfelt: Assistive Technology accessible digital environments with a haptic interface
Children and young people (CYP) who have motor impairments can find it difficult or even impossible to interact with the physical world, yet these interactions are important elements of child development. In this project, we developed virtual game-like environments to allow children to explore physical world concepts, and to allow us to uncover their understanding of these concepts. The activities included maze-like environments and a 3D environment where objects can be thrown around. Haptic devices were used to provide a more physical feedback to the virtual interactions. Results are pending publication.
